So the basic idea is you take the kick drum signal and use it to duck the bass. Most people use a compressor for this but I actually prefer Trackspacer because it gives you frequency-specific ducking. With Trackspacer you can set it to only affect 100 to 300 Hz so when the kick hits, the bass ducks just in that low-mid range. The top end stays right there."
